One man was injured when a Nabors rig caught fire Tuesday afternoon near Watford City.

Nabors B8, a production rig, was on a Whiting Petroleum site when part of the floor and site burst into flames at 4:16 p.m.

According to the McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office, Brian Busby was injured in the explosion and transported to McKenzie County Hospital for treatment. His injuries were non-life threatening burns on his head and hands.

The initial cause of the fire is believed to be a pressure build up that caused material to escape and ignite.
