Federal officer convicted of roughing up suspects

A federal jury has convicted a former officer on a North Dakota Indian reservation for roughing up suspects during two separate arrests. Lindrith Tsoodle was found guilty Tuesday on two counts of using excessive force and one count of making false statements. He was acquitted of tampering with a witness. The incidents happened in November.

Oil rig explodes near Watford City

One man was injured when a Nabors rig caught fire Tuesday afternoon near Watford City. Nabors B8, a production rig, was on a Whiting Petroleum site when part of the floor and site burst into flames at 4:16 p.m. According to the McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office, Brian Busby was injured in the explosion and transported.

Man Dies on Oil Well Drilling Site

A man died at an oil well drilling site west of Killdeer while working on a drilling ring, officials say. Kristopher Barnes, 32, of Minot was working at an Ensign U.S. Drilling site Thursday when he was struck by “blocks,” said Eric Brooks, U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration area director.
